My First Blog

Hi everybody! My name is Treanna (Tree-On-A)...sorry had to throw that in there because people come up with all these nutty pronunciations of my name...which, may i add, my dad has a running list of which he lovess to rattle off to me ... so, if you ever meet anyone with my name I'd love to hear about it! I've recently been scoping out the world of blogs and I must say, I'm kind of addicted! It's so interesting to see what others are eating and how they hit the gym.

As a fitness junkie myself I thought what fun it would be to share my workout ideas and frequent kitchen concoctions. I must say I'm not a raw foodie or a vegan/vegetarian, only a girl on a mission to stay healthy and try to make the right nutritional decisions in a crazy, unhealthy world. My love of food & nutrition has stemmed from multiple places and has made me the health nut I am.

I grew up in Connecticut surrounded by yummy Italian food that can be oh-so unhealthy! Well, my parents started fretting about their cholesterol and decided to make the switch to 'turkey this' and 'chicken that' also incorporating whole grain eeeeverything. Well, there I was- learning about healthy eating right alongside the parental units. Soon after this I joined the gym at age....13! I played sports throughout high school and towards the end of high school started training with a personal trainer....my very first time incorporating weights into the mix.

Fast forward a couple years when I met my current boyfriend, 'the jeweler'. Since he has a couple more..shall we say...years of knowledge under his belt ;) he was a huge influence on me. Strutting the beach with his crazy six (he may argue eight) pack, my love for fitness shot wayyyy up. He taught me so much about healthy eating, a lot of which I already was aware of, yet so much more than I ever would have cared to know if it wasn't for him. Sidenote: Although an avid athlete throughout high school and college, my boyfriend grew up a chubby kid & completely changed that around once he started learning about everything healthy eating & fitness had to offer.

Well, I'm now a college graduate, but before I graduated this past May, I had an amazing opportunity to eat my way through Rome my junior year...which added a little extra weight around the edges. Upon returning to the states I hit the gym hard. Initially, I had the jeweler train me & introduce me to some new exercises, but when I headed back to campus, gym notebook in hand, I had an arsenal of workouts to lose that extra weight I gained from an amazing semester abroad.

So, there it is. My unfolding passion for nutrition & fitness. Nowadays I'm at the gym everyday for at least an hour lifting and sweating it out. I love to cook healthy, although I may not cook as 'clean' as possible I still try to make the best decisions I can on a daily basis.

I started this blog to keep myself accountable for numerous goals I want to hit in 2010:

1. Eat Cleaner. I <3 way too many things 'sugar & fat free'...cringe, I know...but hey, I'm just livin'

2. Change up my workouts & keep trying new classes at the gym.

3. Get into even better shape come April 5 for ARUBA!

4. RUN! Ah I always will run for a couple weeks and then just go cold turkey on it. This will stop!

I'm constantly ripping out recipes & researching workouts from my arsenal of magazines (10 & counting..), books (<3 Hungry Girl, The Eat Clean Diet & Making the Cut) & internet sources, so, I hope you'll join me on my crazy road of recipes, fitness & fun! Oh, and I'm seriously debating studying to be a personal trainer, but I'm not a certified nutritionalist or trainer, as of now.
